The first-person account can be a book, documentary film, website/blog, video or personal interview as long as it represents the perspectives of the actual person with the disability. The source must be credible and thoughtful. If you choose to use a video, please be sure the video is lengthy enough (30 minute minimum) to understand thoroughly the perspective of the individual and the complexity of the disability. Please submit the citation for the first person account you will be using by the third class session.
I actually recommend starting with Google - search for something like "best deaf vloggers" or "best autistic youtubers." You'll probably find a blog entry, article, or even another video with some good information. As with your search for teaching strategies, if you're having a hard time finding information about a disability category, try searching for a disease or condition that falls into that category.
Many YouTubers have multiple videos about their disability, which should help provide you with a fuller picture of their experiences.
