Local History

Not sure about how to start your research project on local history?  We have numerous resources at Penfield Library that will guide you through the research process.  The Circulating and Reference collections offer books on the history of both the City and County of Oswego. The Serials Collection contains various local newspapers on microfilm.

Archives and Special Collections' local history collection includes material focusing on the historical, political and cultural heritage of Oswego and the surrounding region.  Our extensive collection of local history materials including locally produced manuscripts, photographs, oral histories, primary sources, diaries, and maps is located on the lower level of the library.  Schedule an appointment to visit or make an inquiry
