Not finding a primary source that works for your topic?

Try Googling to see if there are any archives or museums devoted to your topic that have digitized content. 

If you're not finding anything, you can always ask a librarian for help!

Search for Books

Search for Books Beyond Penfield Library

Books, ebooks, movies, music, and more in NYS and Worldwide Libraries.

Request materials you find here through interlibrary loan by clicking Get it Soon.

Go to the Advanced Search

  1. To request a book from another SUNY library, click Borrow from another library.

  2. Click on the link to sign in, then login with your Laker NetID and password.

  3. Click Interlibrary loan.

  4. Make sure the request information looks correct, and if you'd like, add a comment. Then click Send Request.

  5. That's it! We will email you when the item arrives at Penfield.

If Penfield Doesn't Have What You Need

If our library doesn't have the books / articles you need, we can order them from another library. 

  • Benefits: Get just about any book or article ever--for FREE.
  • Drawbacks: It takes a couple days to arrive. Plan on 2-3 business days for an article, or 5-7 business days for a book.

This is called Interlibrary Loan.
