Do We Compost on Campus?

Yes,  We do compost on campus.

SUNY Oswego's Sustainability Office works with Auxiliary Services to collect organic materials (food waste) and turn them into compost.  The organics are collected in buckets (which are cleaned daily).  After collection of the organics, members of the sustainability office take it to Oswego County's Bristol Hill Transfer Station.

The Lake Effect Cafe in Penfield Library is one of the food venues that saves all of their coffee grounds and other food waste to be picked up by the Sustainability team.

Once the organics have become compost, it is used in the college's Permaculture Learning Laboratory garden.
