Find books & place a hold

If you would like to pick up your book(s) at the Syracuse campus, you can request them through the library catalog by following the steps below. This is also called placing a hold

Note: Only current students, faculty, and staff can place items on holds.

Books are delivered to the Syracuse campus on Tuesdays. It typically takes our staff 1-3 business days to process requests; depending on when you request the item, it may take over a week to get the book delivered to campus. If this won't work for you, you may want to find an ebook instead.

Here's how to request the book.

  1. Once you've found a book, make sure it's available. I'll use Nnedi Okorafor's The Book of Phoenix as our example - you can see in the screenshot below that it is available. If it is available, click on the title.

  2. Click on the sign in link and login with your Laker NetID and password.

  3. Click the link that says Request for pick-up (1-3 days for Oswego campus, up to 7 days for Syracuse campus).

  4. Make sure the checkbox next to "Pick-up at Syracuse campus" is checked. Add any comments if necessary (where it says Comment), and click the Send Request link.

  5. That's it! You will receive an email when the book is ready for you to pick up.
